What are Leaderboards?

A leaderboard is a design pattern containing a list of rankings representing performance in a particular category or overall standings. It helps to show users exactly how they are performing in relation to others, which can increase competitiveness. Examples from leaderboards in user interface design include online gaming communities and online courses.
